The Annapurna Massif has two of the world’s classic treks, the Annapurna Circuit and the Annapurna Sanctuary and the gateway city to these treks is Pokhara, reached by a short flight from Kathmandu. It is an ideal introduction to trekking in the Himalayas with a maximum altitude of 4,130m at Annapurna Base Camp. Accommodation can either be in tea-house lodges or camping with plenty of options available. Trekking options can range from 7 – 12 days.
I led the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek for Charity Challenge as a bad weather alternative to Everest Base Camp because flights to Lukla were grounded.
The local operator of this trip was Kamal Bhandari of Himalaya Hikes whom I can recommend.
