Borobudur is the 9th Century Mahayana Buddhist Temple in the Magelang Regency of Central Java. It is the world’s largest Buddhist temple consisting of nine stacked platforms which are topped by a central dome. The temple is decorated with 2,672 stone carved panels and 504 statues of Buddha. 72 Buddha statues are contained within the perforated stupas on the higher levels.
