September 9th, 2017 – our next one day (6hrs) NNAS Tutor Award course is confirmed to run at Cwm Carn Visitor Centre in South Wales – currently there are 5 places available as we have received 3 confirmed bookings. The NNAS has launched the NNAS Tutor Award, a course for those who teach navigation. It is a recognition that just because one can personally navigate it doesn’t follow that one can teach it! This almost unique trek to the summit of Africa’s highest point (5,895m) has additional itinerary days added for those trekkers who might feel more comfortable and less pressurised than the normal trekking route itineraries. The XL itinerary will have eleven days on the mountain and be led by Alan Ward (International Mountain Leader) of Bigfoot Services Limited who has previous summit success. Mt Toubkal (4,167m) in February 2018 will be a small group trek for those with an interest in climbing North Africa’s highest point. Hopefully there will be winter conditions present and the trek itinerary will include training in basic winter skills, e.g. the use of crampons and ice-axes, for the non-technical ascent. The leader is Alan Ward of Bigfoot Services Limited and is a Winter Mountain Leader and International Mountain Leader with previous summit success experience.
