The CourseIn this course you will learn how to deliver an electric shock (defibrillation) to a victim in cardiac arrest using an automated external defibrillator (AED). The course is suitable for first responders such as police and security officers, life guards, and voluntary first aiders. It is particularly suitable for staff employed at outdoor education and visitor centres located more than 10 minutes away from an ambulance station. Before attending this course, you must be proficient in basic life support (BLS). It is recommended you hold at least the REC Basic First Aid course certificate or equivalent. This one day course is certificated for one year after which an annual half day refresher course is required.
