First Aid & Mountain Expedition Training in the Brecon Beacons National Park


Alan Ward, Bigfoot’s Instructor, holds the Summer, Winter, and International Mountain Leader Awards and is a REC Trainer to HSE FAW level. He is based in the Brecon Beacons National Park.

A freelance Expedition Leader, Alan was one of 11 finalists in the Wanderlust Travel Magazine’s Top Guide of 2006 Award Competition. Alan has led treks and expeditions for: Raleigh International, Charity Challenge, Walks Worldwide, World Expeditions, Himalayan Kingdoms and Jagged-Globe.


First Aid

Rescue Emergency Care (REC) was founded by specialist doctors working in remote health care to:

  • introduce innovative, informative and practical first aid training
  • research new developments and training methods
  • encourage the training and development of emergency care for remote places

Mountain Training

Safety-on-the-Hill courses providing basic hill walking skills and practical navigation and the Walking Group Leader Award is available for leaders of walking groups. Both these courses are available on request to small private groups.


Photography

With a slide library of over 15,000 images, photographic services include provision of images to outdoor equipment manufacturers and slideshows to private groups.
